PITTSFORD, N.Y., January 17, 2011 – Brent Harder (St. Mary’s/Monument, CO) of the St. John Fisher College men’s basketball team has been named as the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 16, 2011. The freshman guard has also been named as the Empire 8 Conference Rookie of the Week for the second time this season.
In a 1-1 week for Fisher (8-7, 4-2 Empire 8), Harder averaged 19.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. He also shot 59.1% from the floor, including 9-for-13 (69.2%) from 3-point range.
In Saturday’s 73-66 overtime-win at Hartwick College, Harder scored a career-high 24 points, while shooting 8-for-13 (61.5%) from the floor, 5-for-7 (71.4%) from 3-point range and 3-for-4 (75%) from the foul line. He also snagged six rebounds in the win.
On Friday night, Harder scored 14 and made four 3-pointers, while dishing out four assists in a 58-54 overtime-loss at Stevens Institute of Technology.
For the season, Harder has started in all 15 games and leads the team with 29 3-pointers. He also ranks second on the team in scoring with 10.2 points per game.
Fisher will return to action at 8 p.m. on Tuesday and will host East Avenue-rival Nazareth College.
