Jordan Koch (East Rochester/East Rochester) of the St. John Fisher College men’s basketball team has been named as the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 2, 2011.
Koch led the Cardinals to a first-place finish at the Woodcliff Hotel and Spa Invitational last week. In the Cardinals’ two wins, Koch averaged 17.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists, while shooting 11-for-18 (61.1%) from the floor, 7-for-12 (58.3%) from 3-point range and 5-for-6 (83.3%) from the foul line.
On Thursday, in the championship game vs. Clark University, the senior guard/forward scored a season-high 18 points. He shot 5-for-9 from the floor and knocked down three 3-pointers in the win.
In Wednesday’s 90-51 win over Farmingdale State College, Koch led the Cardinals with 16 points, shooting 6-for-9 from the floor and 4-for-7 from 3-point range. Koch, Fisher’s top returning scorer from last season, had just four 3-pointers in Fisher’s previous eight games.
For the season, Koch 7.9 points and 4.1 rebounds per game and ranks second on the team with 11 3-pointers.
Fisher will return to action at 8 p.m. on Tuesday and will host Elmira College in an Empire 8 Conference matchup
