Maloney led Fisher in scoring (20.3 ppg), in field goal percentage (47.8%) and in blocks (2.7 pg), in a 2-1 week for the Cardinals during the Wendy’s College Classic. The senior was named to the All-Classic Second Team for her outstanding performance.
To open the Classic on Tuesday,
Maloney led Fisher by pouring in 18 points along with three rebounds and two blocks in an opening round loss to Roberts Wesleyan. The Liverpool native’s best performance came during a 68-48 defeat of RIT on Thursday. The senior scored a season-high 23 points, tied her season-best eight rebounds and swatted a career-high five blocks.
The senior guard reached a new plateau by becoming the 19th player in Fisher’s storied history to reach 1,000 points in her career in the Cardinals’ 70-49 win over Nazareth in the fifth place game on Saturday. With 12:32 left in the second half,
Maloney sank a long 3-pointer to make it a 57-33 Fisher lead and break the barrier to reach 1,002 points. For the day, she totaled 20 points, seven rebounds, one block and one steal.
For the season,
Maloney leads the team with 19.7 points, 3.3 three pointers made and 1.9 blocks per game, and ranks second with 6.0 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game.
The Cardinals return to action as they host Alfred University to kick off Empire 8 play on Sunday, December 12th at Manning & Napier Varsity Gym. The contest is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
