St. John Fisher University Athletics

     Jordan Gettings (Catholic Central/Cohoes) of the St. John Fisher College men's basketball team has been named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending November 28, 2010.  Gettings was also named Empire 8 Player of the Week. 

     The Cohoes native tied a career-high with 20 points in the Cardinals’ 80-75 comeback win over the College at Brockport on Tuesday night at Vlogianitis Gymnasium on the campus of the College at Brockport.  The junior guard also tied for a team-best three assists and grabbed four boards.  He shot 5-for-6 from the floor and 9-for-13 from the free throw line and tallied 14 second-half points as the Cardinals overcame a double-digit deficit.

    For the season, Gettings is second on the team in scoring, averaging 12.0 points per game, and has shot 11-for-19 (57.9%) from the field.

   The Cardinals improved to 1-2 on the season with the win.  Fisher returns to action when it hosts the first round of the Wendy’s College Classic on Wednesday night as they face #5 University of Rochester at 8 p.m. at the Manning and Napier Varsity Gym.
