Shawn Masood (Pittsford Mendon/ Pittsford) of the St. John Fisher College football team has been named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 17, 2010.
Masood led the Cardinals’ defense in a decisive win this week over Hartwick. In the 41-14 win over Hartwick on Saturday, Masood recorded two of the eight interceptions thrown by the three passers for the Hawks on the day. His first pick was on the first drive of the game as he intercepted Kyle Morenus’s third down pass at the Fisher 45-yard line. His second pick was on the Hawks’ first drive of the fourth quarter as he intercepted Morenus again at midfield.
Masood also tallied four tackles, three solo, in the win.
For the season, the senior corner has five interceptions and five pass breakups in pass defense. He has also recorded 25 tackles on the season, with 19 solo tackles and one sack.
Fisher will return to action this Saturday as they hit the road to take on the undefeated Alfred Saxons (5-0, 2-0 E8) at 1 p.m. They will return home the following Saturday when they play out-of-conference opponent Frostburg State at 12 p.m. on senior day.
