St. John Fisher College has named Carissa Carlson (Bolivar-Richburg/Little Genesee) of the softball team as the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 11, 2010.
In a 5-3 week for the Cardinals, Carlson led the team in hits (9), doubles (4) and RBIs (6). During the eight-game stretch she recorded a batting average of .391.
On Wednesday, in a 5-2 victory over Oswego State, Carlson tied a career-high with three hits. She recorded a run and a stolen base as well.
In a sweep over Empire 8 foe Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday, the first baseman scored four runs and batted in another. She also drew four walks during the doubleheader.
On Sunday, in a 6-5 loss to Elmira College, Carlson finished 1-for-4 and drove in two runs. The sophomore tied a career-high with three RBIs in a 4-2 win in the nightcap against Elmira.
On the season, Carlson leads the team with 22 hits. She is batting .367 and has batted in 13 runs.
The Cardinals return to action at 3 p.m. on Tuesday as they travel to the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford for a doubleheader.
