St. John Fisher College has named #Kayla Goodberlet# of the softball team as the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 7, 2010.
Fisher went 5-3 on the week at the Tucson Invitational in Arizona, earning three wins over Neumann University, a 9-0 blank over Siena Heights, and a 14-0 win over Alvernia after falling 3-1 to the Crusaders earlier in the week.
Goodberlet started in all eight contests on the week, with one start at third base and seven starts as the designated hitter. The freshman slugger recorded a team-best 12 hits, eight RBI and five doubles. Goodberlet recorded her first career double and brought in the solo run in an 8-1 loss to William Penn, and had a career-high four RBI in a 6-1 win over Neumann.
For the season, Goodberlet leads the team with a .483 batting average, 14 hits, five doubles, and nine RBI.
The Cardinals, now 6-4 overall, return to action with the start of their regular season at Medaille on Monday, March 29.
