St. John Fisher College has named Connor Henderson (Canandaigua Academy/Canandaigua) of the men’s basketball team as the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 31, 2010.
On Tuesday, Henderson recorded 11 points in an 80-75 win over visiting Nazareth College. The sophomore guard was a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the 3-point line, and finished shooting 4-of-6 from the field. His final three came with 2:50 remaining in the contest, giving the Cardinals a 75-69 edge. Henderson, who stands at 6-foot-4, also pulled down four rebounds.
On Friday, Henderson recorded five points against Stevens Institute of Technology. He shot 1-of-2 from beyond the 3-point line, and grabbed two defensive rebounds. Stevens handed the Cardinals (16-4, 10-1) their first Empire 8 loss of the season.
Henderson is now averaging 7.9 points per game, along with 4.3 rebounds per game. He is second on the team shooting 45.1 percent from behind the 3-point line.
The Cardinals return to action at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, as they visit the Rochester Institute of Technology.
