The Cardinals defeated SUNY Cortland 34-20 in the ECAC Northwest Championship Bowl on Saturday, a repeat of their victory over the Red Dragons from the same bowl game in 2003.
Vosburgh led the Fisher defense that came up big late in the game, forcing Cortland to turn the ball over (two interceptions, one fumble and once on downs) on its final four possessions. Late in the third quarter, Cortland gained 52 yards on a kickoff return before Vosburgh forced a fumble on the first play of the ensuing drive. On Cortland’s next possession following Fisher’s go-ahead touchdown, Vosburgh intercepted a pass at the goal line. The sophomore defensive back also recorded nine tackles (six solo, three assisted) in the win.
Vosburgh capped off the season with 66 tackles (an even 33 solo and 33 assisted), four forced fumbles and two interceptions.
The Cardinals closed the season with a 7-3 overall record, reaching the postseason for the seventh consecutive year and enjoying their eighth straight winning season.
