St. John Fisher College has named #Dave Malone# of the men’s lacrosse team as the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 1, 2009.

In its only game of the week, the men’s lacrosse got the 2009 season started off on the right foot, recording a 24-5 victory over visiting Medaille. In the win, Malone led the Cardinals with six points on four goals and two assists, including two goals in an emphatic 16-0 scoring run that gave Fisher a 24-2 lead in the fourth quarter. After jumping out to an 8-0 lead after just one quarter of play, Fisher kept the pressure on and finished with a new College record for goals in a single game.

Malone, a junior attack, now ranks third all-time in Fisher lacrosse history with 115 career points on 62 goals and 53 assists. He ranks fourth on the career goals ledger (62), and is on pace to become the College’s all-time leader in assists after just over two years of action. John Delle Donne ’06 currently sits atop the all-time assist list with 64 for his career.

Fisher will take on visiting SUNY Oswego this week, before travelling to Maryland to take on St. Vincent’s College and Gordon College over spring break.
