St. John Fisher College has named #Connor Henderson# of the men’s basketball team as the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending February 1, 2009.

In a weekend that saw the Cardinals (14-4 overall, 6-3 Empire 8) drop two games to Conference opponents Hartwick College and Stevens Institute of Technology, Henderson averaged 11.0 points and 3.5 rebounds, while shooting 4-for-10 (40.0%) beyond the 3-point line.

After totaling just five points in Fisher’s 52-51 loss to Hartwick on Friday, the freshman guard came alive for a career day on Sunday. Although the Cardinals suffered a 64-61 overtime loss to the host Ducks, Henderson notched 17 points and six steals (both career-highs). He knocked down a triple for Fisher’s only points in the extra period, and nearly led his squad to a second overtime with another 3-pointer with just two seconds remaining, but the shot was off the mark.

For the season, Henderson ranks as the team’s top free throw shooter (11-of-14, 78.6%). He averages 4.6 points and 1.7 rebounds per game, while ranking second on the team with 12 3-pointers on the year (12-of-38).
