St. John Fisher College has named #Alyssa Ziobrowski# of the volleyball team as the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending November 16, 2008.
Fisher’s season ended this weekend in a 3-1 loss to SUNY Potsdam at New York University in the ECAC Upstate/Metro Championship. Ziobrowski led the Cardinals in their efforts with 17 kills and also ranked among the team leaders with 11 digs. The senior also recorded a block and an assist in her final collegiate match.
Ziobrowski had an outstanding season individually and led the Cardinals to a very successful season on the court.
A senior outside hitter, Ziobrowski led Fisher with 386 kills, and ranked fourth in the Empire 8 with a 3.09 kills per game. She finished this season second on the team in digs with 476, while adding 80 blocks to her career numbers.
For her career, Ziobrowski finished as the College’s second all-time leader in total kills (1,225) and ninth all-time on the total blocks list (298). She recorded the fifth-most for most kills in a single season (386 in 2008), and made an impressive 476 in her final year.
Fisher started off the season with a 3-3 record but went 9-1 down the stretch to finish at 22-13 overall, 6-2 in the Empire 8. Ziobrowski, a four-time All-Conference recipient and AVCA All-Region honoree, led the Cardinals to the No. 4 seed in the Empire 8 Conference Championship and a berth in the ECAC Upstate/Metro Championship.
