Senior guard Sidney Tomasso is making a strong case to win Empire 8 Player of the Year for a second straight season.
Tomasso leads the Empire 8 in points per game (19.8) and ranks third in rebounds per game (8.3). She’s fourth in 3-point shooting percentage (37.6%) and tied for fourth in 3-pointers made per game (2.2).
The reigning Empire 8 Player of the Year has played in 16 of the Cardinals’ 17 games this season and has scored more than 15 points in all but one. She’s scored more than 20 points in seven contests.
Tomasso has six double-doubles this season and 10 for her career.
Tomasso scored a career-high 29 points while shooting 9 of 21 overall, 2 of 5 from three and 9 of 9 from the foul line in Fisher’s season-opening victory over Susquehanna on Nov. 8. She also had 10 rebounds and two steals in that game.
Tomasso ranks seventh in program history in scoring (1,444 points).

Senior guard Katie Moravec has come up big for the Cardinals on both ends of the court this season, as she leads the team in steals (34) and assists (69) and is second in points (17.6 ppg) and rebounds (5.8).
Moravec ranks third in the Empire 8 in assists and fifth in steals.
Moravec has scored 15 or more points in 10 of Fisher’s 17 games. She’s amassed 20 or more in seven of those games.
Moravec had the best game of her collegiate career in an 81-62 win over Houghton on Jan. 14, as she scored a career-high 33 points and led Fisher in rebounds (9) and assists (6).
Moravec has three double-doubles this season.
She’s had six or more assists in four games (including eight twice) and four or more steals in four games.
Moravec needs 31 more points to reach 1,000 for her career and six more steals to reach 200 for her career.

Twin sisters Katie and Kelly Moravec combined to score 40 points as the Cardinals beat Elmira 79-63 for their eighth straight win on Saturday at Varsity Gym.
Katie Moravec led the Cardinals with 23 points while shooting 6 of 12 overall (1-1 from three) and 10 of 10 from the free-throw line. Kelly Moravec had 17 points and shot 5 of 10 overall and 7 of 10 from the line.
Tomasso had 17 points and 10 rebounds as part of another double-double, her second in a row and sixth this season.
The Cardinals tied their season high with 27 made free throws (30 attempts).

The Cardinals and Golden Flyers are two of four teams with 8-0 records in Empire 8 play. Brockport and Geneseo, which also face each other Tuesday night, are the other two.
With a win Tuesday, the Cardinals would enter the final month of the season with a head-to-head tiebreaker over Nazareth atop the E8 standings. The two teams play again at Nazareth on Feb. 18.

The Cardinals own a 75-24 all-time record against Nazareth.
Fisher has won seven of the last eight meetings in the series.
The Cardinals are 30-14 against Nazareth since 2005. They are 14-8 at home against the Golden Flyers in that span.
