GENESEO, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College men's track & field team showed out in multiple events at the two-day SUNY Geneseo Roundtable Invitational held on Friday and Saturday.
On the track,
Jonah Dean held it down for the Cardinals as he took top-five finishes in the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes. The sophomore ran a 22.47 in the shorter of the two races to take fourth place, his best time, but with a wind assistance of 3.0 knots. He also took fifth place in the 400-meter after crossing the finish line in 51.16 seconds.
Freshman
John Ruggio made his first career appearance in the 400-meter hurdles and finished in 59.95 seconds, which won him a sixth-place finish in the event.
Kyle Rollins continued his All-American ways with first-place finishes in both the high jump and triple jump with marks of 2.08 meters and 13.74 meters, respectively.
Senior
Zachary Briggs competed alongside Rollins in the high jump and finished with a best height of 1.76 meters to grab a portion of fourth place in the event.
Matthew Stasiw rounded out the jumps events after he placed seventh in the long jump with a mark of 6.31 meters.
Despite placing third in the event,
Chase Corcoran re-broke the program's discus record this week with a heave of 47.14 meters, breaking the record he set last week by 1.12 meters. The senior also took fifth place in the hammer throw with another personal record throw of 49.00 meters and sixth place in the shot put with a mark of 13.99 meters. The discus mark moves him to 13
th nationally while the hammer toss puts him within the nation's top 50 distances.
Joe Jerkovich headlined the Javelin throw for the second-straight week, as his toss of 49.34 meters won him first place in the event.
Ryan Desautels took fifth place in the shotput with his pitch of 14.37 meters and sixth place in the discus throw with his personal best mark of 43.01 meters.
The Cardinals get a week to prepare for their next outing on Friday, April 16 when they cross town to compete in the RIT Quad Meet, beginning at 4 P.M.
